Width: 37 inches

The beautifully proportioned folk art Austrian Empire food cupboard surviving from the first quarter of the nineteenth century retaining the original painted finish, now distressed and mellowed commensurate with age, having a moulded cornice above a central door with piercings for ventilation enclosing shelves, the base similarly fitted with a cupboard and central door and each door with original working iron locks, hinges, catches and key.

The food cupboard shows attractive wear and tear with scuffing commensurate with its age so there is some paint loss and general wear and tear. Elsewhere there is some old woodworm damage and some later replacements, with the rear feet bracket both being later. The piece has been treated for worm as a precaution and hand waxed but not tampered with in any other way. It stands true and is structurally sound.

Of a versatile size this is an undeniably attractive piece that would serve well as a dresser. Très hip.
