A Very Large & Attractive 19thC French Mottled Green Glazed Terracotta Urn By The Boisset Pottery At Anduze

The wonderfully large and bulbous shaped mottled green glazed terracotta garden urn or pot moulded in relief to the exterior with roundels and swags and inscribed into the glaze 'Fait par Fabre Potier d'Anduze’ survives from 2nd Empire France.
Proving to be in very decorative condition the whole is well-aged with the glaze now flaking commensurate with age and weathering and there are a few small areas of loss to the rim with some slight damages throughout the rest of the piece though nothing major or that detracts from the whole.
The Boisset family have been producing terracotta pots in the Anduze region using traditional methods and the earth from the surrounding area since its founding in 1803 by Etienne Boisset. Today the company is run by Lilian Metge and her husband Richard Jusquet.
