The dusty pink painted pine travelling trunk or blanket box having a vacant interior with its original iron carrying handles and hinges, the whole on railed feet for ease of travel, with a wonderful patina and texture to its surfaces and surviving from the zeniths of the nineteenth century.

This trunk has some obvious signs of use: there are old scratches and the paintwork has naturally distressed in the appropriate areas with a superb craquelure. The iron swing handles are present and working, with a small amount of loss to the mouldings and she was clearly a well-loved, well-travelled, versatile and essential item of Victorian times.

Trunks date back to pre-medieval times and were made in a large variety of shapes and sizes and from many different materials. The rail feet to the bottom of the piece allows it to be pulled around far easier for travel.

A refreshing change of colourway; a shade rarely seen for beautifully time-worn period paint.
