The pretty George III painted pine bedside commode or nightstand, having a shaped galleried top with cutout handles, over two cupboard doors with brass handles, one with a pair of dolphins, to a pull out commode drawer, the whole in the original vermillion red paintwork with concentric circles and line decoration and surviving from the third quarter of eighteenth century England.

The piece is in good useable order and is as original as you would want to find save the cupboard door handle being later. There is a section of loss to the painted veneer on the front left leg as photographed. The drawer and cupboard doors all slide and lock in as they should. There is a hairline to the top also as photographed.

This piece displays some of the Eastern influence favoured during the period of chinoiserie in the colour and the oriental inspired shaping of the gallery top.

Very hard indeed to find in this finish, a real delight.
