The ebony stained shadow box framed entomology study, housing approximately sixty specimens of butterfly, moth and beetle, survives from middle of the twentieth century.

The glazed case is in sound structural order having hanging hooks to the top and a wire hanger to the rear. The specimens themselves are in super order with 90% remaining in tact and pinned, though with the usual amount of loose dust in and around the ensemble. The colours remain largely vivid. One specimen’s wing has dropped and is now loose.

The examples within the case are native and non native to Britain and have good variation including the rose chafer beetle, fritillary butterflies and giant silk moths, showing a wide range of distinctive colours and patterns.

Eye catching.
