The George III period giltwood and gesso wall mirror having the original mirror plate in nine segments, the central oval glass surrounded by a gadrooned border and a further eight sections surrounded by a petal decorated frame, the whole with a good patination and colour, surviving from the first quarter of the nineteenth century.

The mirror is in very attractive, original and decorative condition. She has her all original plate glass throughout which has varying spotting, foxing and wear to each section. The gilding is original and there is a nice craquelure to the surface with only small losses. The only condition issue to note is a hairline crack to one of the small segments of glass.

This appealing sectional style was revived in the Edwardian period so one sees examples of that vintage but much less commonly examples of this age.

Beautifully proportioned.
