The fairground pig, standing legs akimbo with attentive ears, protruding tongue and flared snout, painted with polychrome highlights on a burnished gold ground with carousel seat saddle and gold star motifs.
There is evidence of a small hole drilled to the underside of the base for attachment, and Mr pig is in good condition, one ear has been repaired slightly but he is in fine order throughout otherwise.
This attractive pig was perhaps made as a prototype or apprentice type model for a plus sized carousel model or perhaps he was simply crafted as an endearing nod to fairground art and the fun of the fair.
Nicely rendered, this charmingly decorative and enthusiastic looking friend makes good for pocket sized fairground nostalgia.
