The inky blue ground with three geometrically themed tarantula medallions, highlighted in a soft apple green and flanked by a rust inner ground. The main field is populated with twelve smaller tarantula motifs with rosettes at one end and stylized birds at the other. The borders are interspersed by rosettes and flowers and are set in three shades; amber, apple green and mauve to finish.
Usually featuring geometric patterns and earth tones, Goravan Persian rugs are tribal rugs hand-woven in a small village near the carpet-making centers of Heriz and Tabriz.. Their design, color and quality are almost identical to the rugs woven in Heriz.
Gorevan is a town situated below Tabriz beside Lake Urima and carpets made there have a Ghiordes knot and are coarsely woven with approximately thirty to forty knots per square inch. The design is often one large geometrical medallion with smaller similar medallions within.
Highly geometrical and typical of its type, this is a large and lustrous runner with good width and a thick pile.
