The very well made substantial three-seater oak and beech framed chesterfield sofa or settee quite recently upholstered in a cream fabric with single piping, being horsehair stuffed, the whole sitting on ring turned oak front legs and sabre rear legs, each on the original brass castors, the whole surviving from late Victorian period England.

This settee very likely it is by the reputable firm with the tasteful cream upholstery being traditionally upholstered to the highest level with the best materials around a decade ago. The sofa does not require any attention, and the castors appear to be original, with the sofa moving freely on them. Obviously she could be re-upholstered to taste. The current fabric is good quality with a very small handful of small marks.

Chesterfield sofas share a complex history, alongside the elite, the privileged and aristocrats. History reveals that these types of couches have been commonly used in the confines of old institutions, government buildings and luxurious homes for generations. A room, in the 1900’s, would not be complete, unless the master owns a Chesterfield sofa. The proper definition of a Chesterfield is essentially a sofa with the arms and back at the same height.

Elegance, quality and understated class are all very much the themes here, and she is comfortable too.
