The shell or scalloped shaped sprung back sofa, in a cerulean coloured fabric, having tapered cone ebonised legs, hailing from the Art Deco period, the whole of deep and roomy proportions and surviving from the second quarter of twentieth century France.
In good sturdy order, the fabric being first decade of the 21st century with some general wear but no damages, with the sprung seat and back both in sound condition and the legs sturdy.
The shell shaped back is very much an art deco style and this motif is typical of the natural motifs such as shells, sunrises and flowers of the period. The shell back can be seen in cocktail chairs of the period and the design is being re-produced to this day.
