An original chromolithographed advertising showcard, printed on stiff board, featuring a football player holding a ball, a bottle, and drinking a cooling glass of 'Dandy Shandy', standing before a barometer. The text reads 'Down Goes The Thermometer! Down Goes 'Dandy Shandy' The Best of All Non-Alchoholic Beverages, Made from Sasparilla, Nettles, Dandelion &c.'
This is an original sign, not a recent copy, in good condition with some minor edge wear, but no scuffs or loss to the image.Clearly targeted at men with a penchant for football and scientific instruments, Dandy Shandy's rather un-masculine name is clearly obviated by the use of a sporty action-fuelled poster boy.
A wonderful piece of advertising history.
