SOLD
Origin: English
Period: Mid-Victorian
Provenance: Unknown
Date: c.1860-70
Width: 65”
Height: 35”
Depth: 22”
The ochre sand painted pine dresser base retaining the original paint distressed commensurate with age and with a good texture, having a characterful thick two piece top over three deep frieze drawers each with knob handles, the whole standing on integral block legs to a lower pot-board and surviving from high Victorian England.
The base shows some attractive wear and tear with scuffing and losses commensurate with its age as per the photographs. We have had remedial work carried out so that the drawers run as they should, and the piece stands well and is ready to use.
This base would have been a central piece in the bustling kitchen or scullery of a British farmhouse in the nineteenth century.
A beautifully decorative piece of highly useful period furniture.
